| Happy Birthday St. Mark's! |
THERE’S A PARTY BEING PLANNED ON JUNE 2! AND YOU’RE INVITED!That's right..... St. Mark's is not only a place to pray and play, but a place to party as well! The Session just thought it was time for everyone to kick back, relax, laugh, and enjoy each other's company as well as partake of some great food. Such a gathering is a great time to give thanks for the past year in the life of our church. As if that's not enough reason to party, we also came up with a theme: Founders Day Extravaganza. The organizing meeting that constituted St. Mark’s (then called Mountain View Presbyterian Church) took place in the original sanctuary (which is now Geneva Hall) on June 8, 1948. That first meeting turned out to be quite a memorable (and funny) event and you will not be able to forget it either after seeing it re-enacted in a comical skit! Some of St. Mark’s best thespians are preparing their lines already! Now let’s talk about food! Scott Gibson and his cooking crew, will be providing appetizers, beverages, and dinner! That’s always a winner! You don’t have to bring anything! We’ll cover the food. The suggested donation on the day of the party is $5/person or $10/family. You can’t beat that anywhere! One of the highlights of the evening will be a Dessert Contest with a chance to win a gift certificate to Williams Sonoma! Categories will include pies, cakes, cupcakes, etc., The judges will be our hardworking cooks! And what's a party without music? You will be delighted by the Joyful Noise Chorus, the Church Ladies, the Celtic Choir, and sing-alongs. The party is scheduled for Saturday, June 2, with festivities starting at 5:30 PM. Whether you are a long-time member, new member, friend of the church, or frequent visitor, we hope you will join the fun. This is a family friendly event too - there will be fun activities for the children. Questions? Call your party planners, Gwyn Roske (731-1646) or Vanessa Quinn (744-1343).
