In worship we come together to joyfully acknowledge the presence of the Living God in our lives and in our world. Through preaching, sacraments, and music we proclaim the Good News of God's liberating justice and transforming love made visible to us in the person and work of Jesus Christ. The following services of worship are offered at St. Mark's on Sunday morning:
Fall/Spring Worship
Service for the Eighth Day - Worship using a participatory-style format with moments of quiet meditation, alternative readings, lectionary readings, inclusive hymns and a conversational sermon style. Communion is celebrated weekly with gluten free bread.
Worship in the reformed tradition blending a wide range of music, liturgy and visual arts. Music includes an adult and children's choir, a hand bell choir, a youth orchestra, various soloists and instrumentalists. Communion is celebrated weekly.
Lay Liturgists -- Leading worship is one of the ways in which members of the congregation may participate in worship. Orientation and training sessions are required and are offered periodically.
Ushers -- A valuable but often overlooked worship leader. If you are interested in participating in worship as an usher, please call the church office at 325-1001.
Music – St. Mark’s Schantz organ is one of the finest pipe organs in Tucson.
Celtic Choir: One of the ways St. Mark's includes music in its communal worship is through the Celtic Choir. To be a member of the choir a person does not have to be a trained musician or even an accomplished music reader. A desire to bring the best that is in you to the worship of God and a willingness to attend rehearsals and services as as regularly as possible count for as much or more than inherent or cultivated musical ability. The choir rehearses at 7:00 PM on Thursday in the Sanctuary (6:00 PM on the third Thursday) except during the summer.
